Can I move a predictive maintenance sensor while in use?

No. Once the sensor has been installed and has learned the machine’s vibratory pattern, it should not be moved. The vibration profile is highly dependent on the exact placement of the sensor. If the sensor is relocated, its vibratory signature will no longer match the learned baseline.

In this situation, the sensor may either attempt to relearn the new vibration characteristics on its own or, more likely, trigger an alert because it interprets the change as a potential fault. If the sensor is moved, a full reset and new learning cycle will be required.
